Saint Michael’s Orthodox Church

SUNDAY, MAY 6:
CHICKEN WITH STUFFING & HOLUPKI DINNER -
served to the parishioners and general public in the social hall from
12:00 Noon until 2 P.M.  The ethnic feast will include:
Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Mixed Vegetables, Roll & Butter, Hot & Cold Beverages and a huge dessert table filled with
homemade pastries and sweets. 
Cost: $8.00 per Adult; $3.00 per Child ages 4-11 years, and
Free for Kids 3 years old and younger. 
Carry-out meals will be available. 

On this first Sunday of the month, faithful members will receive catalogs and order forms from the Rada Cutlery Company (knives, utensils and other fascinating products) to begin approaching potential customers to buy the articles, as a fund-raising project for St. Michael's Church.  Parishioners are to return all orders with monies to Chairperson, Pani Deborah Zak no later than
Sunday, July 1st.

Church Officers' Meeting conducted in the parish hall at 7 P.M.
    
THURSDAY, MAY 17:
Society of St. Michael's Meeting in the social center at 7 P.M. 
(All parishioners are invited to attend this brief planning session to discuss upcoming fund-raising activities).

SUNDAY, MAY 20:
Deadline for Ordering homemade cooked Holupki by phone order only.

TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY
(MAY 22, 23 & 24):

9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.
Making of the homemade cooked Holupki in the parish hall for sale to the general public upon phone order, only.

FRIDAY, MAY 25:
Sale of the Homemade Cooked Holupki in the
church hall between the hours of 12:00 Noon and 6:00 P.M. 
The Holupki are $1.50 each and
customers are kindly asked to bring their own containers on this
pick-up day. 
 





     The Dollar-A-Day Campaign
continues each month in the parish in this our
100th Anniversary Year of Establishment. 
Our church Anniversary celebration
is set for Sept. 16, 2007

when
Metropolitan Nicholas will lead the Liturgical Program and Banquet Proceedings
at St. Michael's Church and at the Rustic Lodge Banquet facilities in Indiana, PA.  
 
     The Third Sunday of the month is deigned for the Cemetery Fund,
when a special collection is gathered.

Church Information and Pastoral Notes

Rectory Office Hours:   10:00AM to 4:00PM,  Monday through Friday
Emergency Sick Calls can be made anytime. Please telephone the rectory at (724) 254-4343 when a family member is admitted to hospital.
MARRIAGES are solemnized on Saturdays and Sundays. Consult the pastor at least six months in advance and before plans have been made for the wedding reception.
Marriages cannot be celebrated during the fasting seasons of the church year, or on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Also, weddings are not permitted on the Feast of The Beheading of St. John the Baptist (Sept. 11 - Julian calendar),
on the Feast of the Cross Elevation (Sept. 27 - Julian calendar), plus
on the Feast of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ (Pascha),
on the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ (Christmas - Julian calendar) because on these holy days (Easter and Christmas) our private rejoicing should be subordinated to that of the Church celebrating the Resurrection and Birth of our Savior.
BAPTISMS are normally scheduled on Sundays at 11:30AM. Consult with the pastor. Two God-parents are required, at least one of whom must be Orthodox by Faith and the other a practicing Christian.
An infant's first or middle name must be a saint's name.
CHURCH  FUNERALS are provided for practicing Orthodox Christians who are current in their spiritual and financial obligations to the parish; otherwise, burial is from the funeral home.
